“Walker, Texas Ranger” is an American television series created by Leslie Greif and Paul Haggis, starring Chuck Norris as Texas Ranger Sgt. Cordell Walker, an ex-Marine and martial arts expert. He and his partner and best friend, James 'Jimmy' Trivette (Clarence Gilyard), make it their business battling crime and serving justice in the West.
Working out of Dallas, Texas, Native American raised Walker fights criminals the way it was done in the Old west – by beating them up. His friend, ex-Dallas Cowboy football player Trivette prefers to use computers and scientific criminology. County Assistant D.A. Alex Cahill, who is Walker’s sometimes girlfriend, looks down on his methods, even though they bring results.
The show was known for its moral values, offering family viewers a message at the end of each episode. Martial arts and violence were used only in defense, and were never glorified. It has developed a cult following, due to its campy style. Over-the-top action scenes feature Walker beating up the bad guys almost always without breaking a sweat or getting hurt, and never wasting a blow.
