Airing for sixteen episodes on CBS from September 27, 1987 to February 10, 1988, The Law and Harry McGraw is an American mystery spin-off from the popular mystery show Murder, She Wrote .

The Law and Harry McGraw only lasted about half of one season before being cancelled.

The Law and Harry McGraw stars Jerry Orbach (Law and Order ) as a gruff and overbearing private detective who undertakes jobs from attorney Ellie Maginnis, who has the office across the hall from him. Maginnis is a by-the-book lawyer who frequently finds McGraw's style distasteful, but cannot argue with his results.
