Hunter ran on NBC for 7 seasons from September 18, 1984 to April 26, 1991 and a total of 153 episodes. It was a police drama television series. It was created by Frank Lupo and at first it was perceived as too violent. To get its ratings higher, season two toned down slightly on the violence and this did help keep the show running for an additional 6 seasons.
The show revolved around the two main characters, Hunter and McCall. Both were homicide detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department and the episodes revolved around the usual police drama stories of chasing down the suspect and ending in the capture or death of the perpetrator.
