Mama's Family was an American sitcom for NBC that was a spin-off based on a skit from the Carol Burnett variety program.  The skit was originally called "The Family” and featured Vicki Lawrence as the character known as Mama, who was an ornery older woman who is the matriarch of an equally ornery family.

When the skit transitioned into the program Mama's Family, many of the famous actors from the Carol Burnett program reprised their roles on the program, including Carol Burnett and Harvey Korman.  Also appearing on the program were "Golden Girls" Rue McClanahan and Betty White.  In fact, after the third season of Mama's Family, McClanahan and White started filming the "Golden Girls" and no longer appeared on Mama's Family, with the exception of one appearance by Betty White in 1986.

130 episodes aired on NBC from January 22, 1983 to August 17, 1990
