This spin-off of the Alice television series was broadcast in half-hour episodes for one season from 1980 to 1981.

Flo was a waitress at Mel’s Diner, but left there when she received an offer to be hostess at a restaurant in Houston.  She decides to stop by her hometown of Fort Worth, which she calls ‘Cowtown’, on her way to Houston, and once there decides to buy a run-down roadhouse restaurant and try to make it on her own.

She fixes up the Yellow Rose and opens for business, and episodes of the series are about her dealings with her mother, her sister, and the staff and customers of her restaurant.

Flo is a brassy, flirty, no-nonsense gal who is not afraid of speaking her mind.  When aggravated by someone she is often known to respond with her trademark, “Kiss my grits!”
