The Dukes of Hazzard was an American television series that aired on CBS from January 26, 1979 to February 8, 1985 for a total of seven seasons and 147 episodes.  It was inspired by the film Moonrunners (1975) and was a sixty minute comedy.

The plot of the show followed the two main characters, Bo and Luke Duke, who were cousins who lived in Georgia along with their cousin Daisy and Uncle Jesse.  The two cousins had been prosecuted for possession and transportation of moonshine, but their uncle Jesse made a plea bargain for the boys and promised they would stay within county lines and never brew moonshine or carry firearms.  The local politician, Boss Hogg, has it out for the cousins and even though he is crooked himself, he does everything in his power to try and make the boys get caught doing something wrong.  Hogg is always getting involved in get-rich schemes and many times the two cousins are right there to witness his next move.  Sometimes they even assist Hogg, but Hogg continues to dislike the cousins.  The show was known for car chases and stunts and good old boys whose car was always faster and better than any sheriff or officer in the rural little town.
