Alice was an American sitcom based on the film Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore directed by Martin Scorsese and staring Ellen Burstyn. Following the story portrayed in the film, Alice is a widow and aspiring singer who is attempting to get to Los Angeles with her son to start a singing career. Car problems force her to stop outside of Phoenix and take a job as a waitress at a greasy spoon called Mel’s. Alice finds camaraderie with her fellow waitresses Flo and Vera and what started as a temporary pit stop becomes a very different life for Alice.
