Happy days was a television series that presented an idealized vision of how life was from the mid-1950's to 1960's in America . All of the episodes were set in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and are based around a family known as the Cunninghams. The show was created after a one-episode teleplay on the anthology series 'Love, American Style'. One of the longest running series and still in syndication, two animated series were developed, 'The Fonz' and 'The Happy Days Gang' (1980-1982). In 1990 a touring musical known as 'Happy Days' was created and in 2008 another musical took to the stage touring.
Happy Days was based on teenager Richie Cunningham and daily situations that occured with his parents, Howard, a hardware store owner, and his mother, Marion. Richieard also had a drop out of high school sister, Joanie. The most popular character from the show was the upstairs tenant, 'The Fonz'. The majority of scenes took place two sets, either at Arnold's Diner or at the Cunninghman residence.
Robin Williams made his television debut as the character 'Mork from the Planet Ork' and eventually starred along with Pam Dawber in 'Mork and Mindy '.
