Maude was an American sitcom spinoff from the hit comedy All in the Family. Maude starred Bea Arthur as the titular character, a middle-aged liberated woman living in a New York suburb with her fourth husband. The character of Maude was featured on All in the Family as Edith's cousin and a strong liberal foil to the conservative leanings of Archie Bunker. Maude handled contemporary issues of the day such as women's liberation, abortion rights, civil rights and gender and racial equality. One feature of the series was its stark cast, with many episodes featuring only two characters, Maude and her husband Walter. One episode in season four called The Analysis features only Maude in an episode-long monologue.
141 episodes aired on CBS from September 12, 1972 to April 29, 1978 and Maude was a spin-off from the hilarious comedy hot "All in the Family".
