The 4077th M*A*S*H (Mobile Army Surgical Hospital) in Korea, 1950. The story of how medical men retain their sanity amid the insanity of war and their humanity in the face of dehumanization. Episodes focus on the antics of two skilled surgeons: Captain Benjamin Franklin 'Hawkeye ' Pierce, and Captain 'Trapper' John McIntyre, reluctant draftees determined to make the best of the miserable conditions that exist. Though constantly breaking rules and regulations, defying their superior officers, pursuing nurses, and plaguing the life of Major Frank Burns, the saving of human life is uppermost in their thoughts—thoughts coupled with the realization that the war and the killing will all one day end. Situations are played to the limits of television permissiveness.

M*A*S*H was an American television series that was adapted from the 1970 feature film, MASH which had been based on a novel titled of the same name.  The series was a medical comedy and also black drama that aired on CBS for eleven seasons from September 17, 1972 to February 21, 1983 and a total of 255 episodes.  The program became one of the top ten programs of the year and the final episode was viewed by 105.97 million viewers.

M*A*S*H was about a team of doctors who worked at 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital in South Korea during the Korean War.  Many of the episodes were based on true stores that were acted out after real life MASH surgeons had been interviewed by the production team.  While the series was mostly a comedy, certain episodes took on more of a dramatic tone and serious subject matter.  Most of the characters were draftees, with dramatic tension often occurring between them and 'regular Army' characters.
