Ironside was a television series produced by Universal that ran on NBC for a total of 8 seasons and 197 episodes from September 14th, 1967 to January 16th, 1975. The main actor, Raymond Burr (of Perry Mason fame), earned six Emmy nominations and two Golden Glove nominations for his role on the series as the Chief of Detectives, Robert T. Ironside.
Ironside was about the San Francisco Police department and the Chief Detective, Robert Ironside. He had been part of the department for twenty years when a bullet from a sniper paralyzed him from the waist down, causing his early retirement. He still wanted to work and the show portrayed how even a man in a wheelchair could serve on the police force.
