The Batman show is iconic for its campy comedy approach; however, it went through several incarnations before settling on this format. Batman went from Saturday morning children's show, to prime time serious adventure before 20th Century Fox gave the project to William Dozier ,who hated comic books. Dozier thought that the only way a comic book show would work was as a campy comedy and thus the show as we know it today was born. Many Batman villains from the comics were included in the show , such as The Joker, The Penguin, The Riddler, Catwoman, Mr. Freeze and others. However, one famous Batman villain who never appeared was Two-Face, although the show was in talks with a then unknown actor named Clint Eastwood to do the role. The show was cancelled before Clint could appear however. 120 episodes aired on ABC from January 12, 1966 to March 14, 1968.
