Based on the 1940's radio show. While very popular on the radio it simply failed to catch on with television audiences and ran for only a single season. The town of Summerfield, 217 Elm Street, the residence of Throckmorton P. 'The Great' Gildersleeve, the water commissioner, and his wards, his orphaned niece and nephew, Marjorie and Leroy Forrestor. Stories relate the home, working, and romantic life of the bachelor uncle of two children.
