Grand Ole Opry began being broadcast on the radio in the early 1920's and is still being broadcast on WSM - 650 AM radio.  The program appeared on television on ABC from 1955 to 1956 once a month in an hour-long format.

The Grand Ole Opry is dedicated to country music and its history and the episodes of the television show were broadcast from the Ryman Auditorium and included country music stars and newcomers performing country, bluegrass, folk and gospel music, dancing, comedy and skits.
