Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer discover buried treasure in a cave and think their troubles are over. Little do they know they are just beginning. When Huckleberry’s drunken and mean father is supposedly drowned, Huck is adopted by the Widow Douglas and she begins to try to tame him. Believing his money is the root of all his troubles, he sells his fortune to Judge Thatcher, but Judge Thatcher really intends to keep the money in trust until Huckleberry is older. When Huck’s father returns, not dead at all, he kidnaps Huck, wanting to steal his fortune. Tom helps Huck escape and Huck begins a voyage down the Mississippi River, looking to outrun his misfortunes. On his journey he meets up with two con men, The Duke and The Dauphin, who are also out to steal his fortune.
