Macabre was a very short lived radio show produced by the US Armed Forces Radio Service in 1961. Macabre only lasted eight episodes, but that was enough to make an impact on radio listeners. Macabre received critical acclaim after its demise as a particularly well-written and well-acted horror show.

The episodes focus on Twilight Zone-esque plots.  The first episode, "Final Resting Place", tells of an impoverished groom that allows himself to be buried alive for $500 to pay off his car.
