Heritage Over The Land was an NBC News documentary that related the history of the American South. Produced and funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Heritage Over The Land followed former foreign correspondent Henry Cassidy as he traveled throughout the South interviewing various people and collecting stories.  The stories and people encountered on Heritage Over The Land were researched beforehand by Arthur Hepner.  Hepner and Cassidy traveled throughout the American South for six months collecting footage on the newly invented tape recorder.

Heritage Over The Land was originally designed to be a series that focused in-depth on various regions throughout America .  Based on the quality of these 13 episodes that were recorded, such a show would have been fascinating indeed.
