Radio veterans Cathy and Elliot Lewis created a show called On Stage in 1953, after leaving work on shows such as Suspense and Sam Spade.  The couple were known as "Mr. and Mrs. Radio" due to their hardworking nature and contributions to quality radio programs.

On Stage was a blend of classic and original mystery, drama, comedy, satire and adventure stories.  Due to the track record of Cathy and Elliot Lewis, the couple was given more creative freedom to make the kind of show they wanted.
