The Martin and Lewis Show (1948-1950)

The Martin and Lewis Show

(1948-1950)

Comedy / Variety Radio

Starring Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis

Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis were one of the most beloved comedy duos in American history.  Singer Dean Martin was the straight man, while comedian Jerry Lewis was his hilarious sidekick.  The pair travelled together putting on live shows in nightclubs, appearing on television and of course on the radio.

The duo had been playing in nightclubs when they tried out for an NBC talent hunt.  After a brief stint on television, they moved to a more natural habitat for their humor on the radio.

This program was the first and was broadcast between 1948 and 1950.  The program went off the air due to difficulty finding a radio sponsor.

The second premiered in 1951, The Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis Show , with guest star Dinah Shore to kick off the program.
