Created by the same publishing company that brought us Doc Savage and The Shadow , The Avenger follows in the same pattern.  In many ways he is an amalgamation of the two, displaying characteristics of both, but unfortunately never gaining the following of either.  Like many serials, the program began as a comic and moved to radio to meet the demand for adventure stories.
