The Alan Young Show is a radio situation comedy program that was broadcast from 1944 to 1949 that began as a summer replacement for Eddie Cantor’s radio program.

The comedic situations centered on Alan Young (himself) and his girlfriend, Betty (Jean Gillespie, Louise Erickson).  In the show ’s last season the character of Hubert Updike III (Jim Backus) was added to the mix.
