Matinee Theater began life originally as a show called Dangerously Yours.  CBS Radio renamed the show to expand its selection of stories and to focus on providing quality dramatic programming on Sunday afternoons.

Matinee Theater focused on dramatic retellings of popular stories of the day and classical tales.  In addition to more contemporary fair, Matinee Theater also produced adaptations of Wuthering Heights, The Scarlet Pimpernel, and Jane Eyre in thirty minute episodes.
