Billed in the introduction as “stories for young people ”, this show is a collection of adaptations of coming-of-age stories.  From well known tales such as Two years before the Mast and Robinson Crusoe to unknowns like Biscuit Eater, each show focuses on self-reliance, the courage of one’s convictions, and the successful prosecution of your ideas.  Although some episodes are somewhat jingoistic and naive sounding today, overall the adaptations remain excellent entertainment for young and old alike.
