Sponsored by Westinghouse, Adventures in Research was heard from 1946 into the 1950's. These are the tales of the dramatic and entertaining accounts in scientific research history, and were written by Westinghouse physicist Dr. Phillips Thomas, to encourage a civic an interest in science. Adventures in Research began as a question and answer session between Dr. Thomas and Paul Shannon, but to make the show more exciting, the physicist began to write dramatized versions of important discoveries, such as the invention of the typewriter, the automobile, penicillin, the machine gun, the skyscraper, and many more. Historically accurate, these fifteen-minute shows are very entertaining. Just as originally intended, these shows are a great way to learn about great scientific discoveries throughout history.
