Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were one of the most famous comedy duos in entertainment history.  Getting their start working separately in burlesque shows in the late 1920's and 30's, the duo joined forces in 1935 at the Eltinge Burlesque Theater.  The duo starred in their first movie in 1940, and started their radio show on October 8, 1942, which was sponsored by Camel cigarettes.

Abbott and Costello's show was a blend of comedy skits and musical guests.  In 1947 the show moved to ABC, and the duo started a children's show as well.  The duo's famous "Who's on First" skit was and still is their best known and loved performance.  The duo was able to perform the skit practically on demand and used it to fill in time when needed.  There are perhaps 20 different versions of the skit, ranging in length from one minute to ten.
