Sam Wheat and Molly Jensen are a compassionate couple who have just moved into the big city of New York. Sam is a banker while Molly is an artistic potter. Sam realizes there are some At work, Sam discovers some incongruities on a couple of bank accounts at work and tells his pal who works with him, Carl Bruner about the matter. Carl wants to take matters into his own hand, but Sam tells him he will look more into it himself. He never finds out more on the situation, because he is soon killed by criminal Willy Lopez after he assaulted him and Molly. Sam dies from a gunshot wound, but his spirit leaves his dead body. He soon comes to find out that he is a ghost that cannot be seen or heard.

Sam does find someone that can actually hear him and that is Oda Mae Brown, a woman pretending to be a medium. Sam convinces Oda Mae to inform Molly that Willy knows where she lives since he has his wallet with their address. Molly is not convinced by Oda Mae, for she is still in disbelief over what happened. Sam soon realizes that Carl was behind the attack, for he was trying to obtain Sam’s security codes since he was involved in a money laundering plot. Molly goes to the authorities to talk on Oda Mae and they tell her she is a con-artist, which does not benefit Sam.

From here Sam does everything he can to get Molly’s attention and keep her away from danger. With Oda Mae’s help, he soon gets what he wants and bring justice. When all is completed, Sam shares one final emotional dance with Molly and goes to the after-life.
