This film is set in Paris during 1934 where a professional soprano singer by the name of Victoria Grant cannot seem to find a job as a singer. She comes from Britain and is a bit naïve. Her life is getting so difficult, she is having problems paying for food and housing. Gay cabaret singer Carole 'Toddy' Todd is having the same problems as her, for he has just been let go of his mediocre singing job at the club Chez Lui. They start to work together and Toddy decides to be her manager, but Victoria must pose as man so she can get a job as a female impersonator. If their plan works, Toddy promises they will make a lot of money this way.

Note: Director Blake Edwards and Julie Andrews were Husband and Wife in Real Life~~
