Robert and Katherine Thorn have a great life together. He has a great job as the US Ambassador to Great Britain, but the one thing missing from their lives is children. After Katharine gives birth to a dead child, a priest convinces Robert to take a baby whose mother died giving birth to him. He agrees without consulting with his wife. Peculiar things begin to happen after they move to London. Robert begins to think the child he took is devious and evil.
