Mrs. Lowe knows that her husband was a thief and made off with $500,000 worth of gold that he hid before he was killed. Lowe hires a Gunslinger named Lane to track down the missing money and return it to her so she can return it to the authorities, collecting the $50,000 reward for a fresh start.
Lane gathers some friends before riding south into Mexico to find the gold. However it isn’t long before he realizes that Mrs. Lowe’s husband’s associates are trailing them for it, along with a mysterious stranger who seems to be tracking their every move.
Notes:
The two main character names in The Train Robbers, Lane and Mrs. Lowe, are also the two main character names in another John Wayne movie, Hondo (1953)
