During an Indian attack, an army rider goes to AWOL to rescue the Native American women and children. While traveling through the desert in New Mexico on a camel, he encounters a wayward white boy who is searching for his Indian tribe that raised him. They travel together in search of his adopted family.
This comical family western follows the adventures of a cavalry soldier, Clint Keyes, a little boy, Mark, and a camel, Rosie. Mark, who is white, was captured by the Cheyenne Indians as a child. He was then taken from his tribe by an army patrol, and is now trying to find his way back to the home that he belongs to. While on the run looking for his tribe, the boy comes across Rosie and Clint Keyes. The soldier escaped from the army during a raid to save the lives of Indian women and children, and has since been sentenced to hang for mutiny and desertion. When leaving, he brought with him the headstrong and difficult camel named Rosie. The trio takes off together on a journey through the vast New Mexico landscape. At one point, they come across a widow and her daughter, but continue on their way until Mark is reunited with the Cheyenne Indians that he calls his family.
