Jory is a fifteen-year-old boy whose father is murdered by an alcoholic. After the murder, he decides to be part of a wild horse drive. The drive's commander and a friendly cowboy teach the boy everything there is to know and discover that his misfortune has made him a stronger person, which takes everyone by surprise. Jory substantiates his new strength during the film’s climax of his shootout.
