On a Western note, The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean, was directed by John Huston.  Named Phantly Roy Bean Jr. (1825-1903) at birth, the man who was later called Judge Roy Bean was a very colorful saloon keeper and self-appointed Justice of the Peace in Texas, near the Mexican border, and he called himself 'The Law West of the Pecos'.  Judge Roy Bean was played by Paul Newman, Maria Elena by Victoria Principal (in her film debut), and Reverend LaSalle by Anthony Perkins.  The film also features performances by Ned Beatty, Jacqueline Bisset, Tab Hunter, John Huston, and Ava Gardner.
