DJ Dave Garver grabs the impassioned attention of a psychotic fan by the name of Evelyn Draper. They encounter one another at a bar one evening and another time at her apartment, where she informs him that she has been the obsessive caller who constantly requests for him to play the Erroll Garner song 'Misty.' His life changes from that encounter as she follows him everywhere, disrupts his business lunch, attacks his maid, and destroys his house. She even tells him she will kill his girlfriend, Tobie Williams.
