Louise Haloran throws the body of her husband John overboard after he suffered from a heart attack while they were on a rowboat. She informs the family he left on an important business trip in order to inherit a part of the family’s fortune, for she can only inherit if her husband is alive. The Halorans hold an annual ceremony on the anniversary of the death of their youngest daughter,  Kathleen who drowned in a pond as a child. There are different plans this year, with murder around the corner.
