William Gridley has just traveled to London from the US. He finds a place to rent at Carly Hardwicke’s house. He immediately starts to fall for her. Gridley is not aware at how many people believe she murdered her husband. When his boss, the American ambassador finds out, he does not think its fair how easily people judge her. Carly also happens to be American, which rescues Gridley from losing his job since the ambassador is fascinated with her when they meet. He makes a promise to her that he will do everything he can to help her situation. The real comedy begins when Detective Scotland Yard comes to question Carly, looking for answers.
