This film was Troy Donahue's first starring role. It centers on the subject of adultery mixed in with teenage romance and deception on an island near the Maine coast.
A successful businessman and millionaire, Ken Jorgenson revives a relationship with an old lover, Sylvia Hunter while vacationing in Pine Island, Maine with his wife and teenage daughter. Hunter and Jorgenson are both in a lonely marriage and when the defamation of their romance explodes, Jorgenson's daughter and Hunter's son become close and fall in love with each other, even though they do not want to commit the same mistakes their parents have made. With this comes extravagant consequences for both couples.
