O’Meara is a rebel veteran who declines to relinquish at Appomattox when Lee does. He heads west after fleeing and the Sioux take him in, while getting a wife. He no longer considers himself an American and must really make a decision on whose side he is on when the Sioux and the Army prepare to fight.
