The main male character, Billy Bigelow has worked at a carnival as a carousel maker for many years. After passing away, he is given the chance to come back to earth from heaven for one day to try and make amends for a number of mistakes he made during his lifetime when he fell into a life of crime to ultimately support the mother of his child, Julie.
