Cary Scott lives a very quiet life, for she is a widow and her two children are already grown. She has a small group of friends and her children visit her every weekend. She is aware she lives a boring life, so she starts a friendship with nursery owner, Ron Kirby. He also helps trim her trees in the spring and fall. They begin to fall in love with each other, even though Ron is much younger than her. Everyone is shocked by their relationship, but Ron does not care about their age difference. When her son and daughter disapprove of their relationship, she ends it with Ron. Her children are the most important thing to her.
