Married couple George Braden and his wife Ellen are accused of murder after a rancher is found dead, for they work on the ranch.  Although they are innocent, George confesses to the murder, so his wife can be set free.  George is sentenced to the death penalty.  His lawyer, Doug Madison, believes in his innocence and sets out to find the real killer.  He eventually finds the killer, Max, but a psychiatrist declares he is harmless.
