This film is set during 1807, where Captain Horatio Hornblower is the captain of the HMS Lydia on a dangerous voyage in the Pacific.  No one is aware of where he is taking them.  Everyone is confused on why they are far from the war with England and Napoleon.  They are led to the coast of Central America , where they must capture Don Julian Alvarado, since he is planning a revolution against France's Spanish allies.
