This film centers on Mormon settlers who hire horse traders Travis Blue and Sandy as wagon masters. Their voyage is full of unknown areas and problems, but they soon run into a medicine show ran by Dr. A. Locksley Hall who is stranded with the rest of his passengers, including the beautiful Denver. They also run into Shiloh Clegg and his violent gang and get invited to join the Navajo at their camp. After one of Clegg’s men assaults a Navajo woman, Shiloh has revenge on his mind. Sandy and Travis are determined to reach their destination and keep everyone safe.

The film Wagon Master was the inspiritation for the western television series "Wagon Train".
