Gene talks about the legend on the Ghost Riders song he sings. Gene has plans to leave his job as an investigator for the county attorney, for he wants to enter the cattle business with his good friend Chuckwalla Jones. Before he leaves his job he wants to assist Anne Lawson prove her father’s innocence of a fallacious murder charge. He searches for the three observers who can declare that Lawson was acting in self defense in shooting a gambler. The one problem is that the observers are frightened by another gambler, Rock McCleary, who tries to kill observer Pop Roberts Morgan. Pop supplies Gene with all the information he needs to prove Lawson’s innocence. Pop then passes away while screaming the "Ghost Riders" are coming for him. Gene then sets off to take care of McCleary.
