Mary Peppertree works in the White House as a switchboard operator in the White House. Three different men are interested in her: an attorney, a Navy lieutenant, and naval assistant to the President. The naval assistant's father owns an island on the Pacific and uses it to his advantage when someone wants to purchase it. He wants the two other men far away from Mary as possible.
