This film is based on the novel by Graham Greene. It centers on a priest who is on the run from the police who want anyone connected to Christianity dead. An Indian woman provides shelter for the priest and tells him to go to Puerto Grande, where a ship will sail to America . On the ship he encounters a man who promises to keep him safe. The man is really working with the police and when the priest realizes this, he runs away from the man.
