Kirk Bennett is wrongly accused of murdering blackmailer Mavis Marlowe. Bennett's wife tries to prove his innocence by hiring Blair, who ends up falling for her. The two pretend to be a singer and piano player to get information from nightclub owner Marko. They do not find anything, which leads Catherine to meet with her husband while Blair gets drunk.
