The film takes place during the late Victorian London, where Jack the Ripper has been murdering and mutilating actresses when night falls. The Burtons are going through some monetary problems so they take in a lodger. He appears to be decent, but Mrs. Burton becomes suspicious of him thinking he may be the ripper, due to his strange are forced to take in a lodger due to financial hardship. He seems like a nice young man, but Mrs. Burton suspects him of being the ripper because of his strange disposition. She also has a beautiful niece who lives with that and she happens to be an actress.
