Ward Stewart is made executive officer of the submarine USS Corsair, even though it was not something he was looking forward to.  He meets a schoolteacher named Jean Hewlett before he sets off to sail and falls for her.  Only problem is she is the sweetheart of his new commander Dewey Connors.  They become very close at sea, but neither knows they are in love with the same girl.
