Nazi spies have pervaded the Hotel Vista del Rio, which is on the Mexican border. Their plan is to get a famous guest, Ricardo Montera, to communicate secret messages to their accomplices during a radio broadcast. Doc and Wishy are hiding out in Montera's car, since they have stolen a basket of apples. Turns out those 'apples' are tiny radios being used by the spies. Rita Winslow is the owner of the hotel and longtime sweetheart of Montera. She brings along Doc and Wishy as house detectives and they find the Nazi code book and present it to Montera. When the Nazis discover this, they kidnap the pair and leave them in a room that has a bomb ready to explode. They somehow get out of the room where Wishy leaves a bomb in the pocket of one of the criminals.
