This entry in the popular Rough Riders series finds Buck Roberts (Buck Jones), Sandy Hopkins (Raymond Hatton) and Col. McCall (Tim McCoy) working separately as undercover U.S. Marshals. Sandy disappears and is suspected in the murder of John Dodge, the owner of nearly every building in town, except for Sandy's hotel. In actuality, Dodge was killed by the henchmen of Bart Logan, an opportunist who intends to gain ownership of all the dead man's property, and is holding Sandy hostage to encourage suspicion that he killed Dodge. Logan concocts a plan to use an actress to play the part of Dodge's long-missing estranged wife Ann, who legally would have the right to all Dodge's holdings. While Buck infiltrates Logan's gang, Tim does some investigating which uncovers an old photograph that proves the actress is not Ann Dodge. Bart Logan and his gang are immediately rounded up and arrested, and all of John Dodge's possessions go to his adult son Dave (Dave O'Brien).
